Infinitesimal Existence of Our Planet

I interpreted this year’s prompt by thinking of the infinitesimal existence of our planet and all of the things which make earth a possibly unique specimen, which is only a tiny speck in our universe. I focused on the sky and sea due to the large contribution it has on our planet. Without the atmosphere and the ocean, our planet would be something completely unrecognizable to the human eye. I explored these ideas by allowing space to reflect onto the ocean, showing our contribution or relations to the universe. The confusing image of the sun set sky within the painting also contributes to this, showing how beautiful something (the sun) so far away can affect our planet and add on to its extraordinary beauty.
